style Indigo using Olive oil as a natural beauty remedy

The best fashion accessory to any of your looks is a great and healthy hair!! I haven’t carried long hair since I was in high school. For many many years I used to wear a pixie style (many years before it was trendy), which most people think that flatters me a lot! Lately, is growing, and I am trying to hold myself and letting it long. But here comes the issue, since I have never carried long hair, I don’t really know how to take care of it and lately was looking frizzy and unhealthy, as you can see in my previous post. I’ve started using my sisters conditioners and serums, but they were just a momentary repair, plus I was concerned about how sustainable and healthy those products are. So I tried the traditional way and the results are AMAZING!!

Instead of trying processed creams, I have started applying the best quality olive oil the night before I am going to wash my hair. My mother comes from a village in Toledo (middle-south of Spain). In her village, they are big producers of cornicabra olive oil, a variety of olive that produces an aromatic and rich (it is almost spicy). Moreover, my mother says that when she was a child the women in her region used the olive oil for their beauty treatments. It was used as a moisturizer for their skin, hair or scar, and they were completely right… it works!

My grandmother buys this oil every time she goes to visit her village, normally 3 or 4 times a year. She buys it directly from the cooperative olive press, which guarantee the high quality of the product and that the money goes directly to the small local farmers. Also, she buys big quantities for all the family in the biggest packaging available, which are 5 litre bottles, and even though the bottles are made of plastic, you avoid the extra consumption of buying multiple plastic bottles of 1 or half litres and at home, we used a beautiful glass oil bottle.

If your hair is looking dry and damage, I think you should definitely give it a try! You would be amazed with the results. I started applying the oil last weekend and my hair feels so soft and shiny. The bad thing about it is that now, I can’t stop touching my pony tail!!

  1. Great advice. I am using olive oil to moisturize my skin, especially in winter. Also, I use it to remove mascara (I don’t use any store bought products for that).
After you apply oil to your hair, do you wrap it in cloth and sleep with it?

    1. Hi Nadia! I just put a little bit on my hair and them put it on a pony tail and let it “dry” for a while before going to bed. I guest using a cloth will also help.
