As spring turns to summer, I have started to wear my summer dresses. Dresses are great for this time of the year, they require no mix & match thinking in the morning and the are fresh and cool! Two summers ago this outfit was my Saturday staple, I used to wear it every week to go grocery shopping in the morning and then later go to the beach and more often finishing my day with drinks at the beach bar. The best part is that this outfit could adapt for any of these occasions.
I cannot remember when I first got this dress, must have been at least 6 or 7 summers ago and the longer I have it the more I like it. The crossed silhouette is very flattering and I love the wooden beads and braided detailing! I am carrying my basket, which you already know and is a must for the summer. Without a doubt, the best part of my outfit are the espadrilles, I posted these not so long ago on Instagram and here I am wearing them. Espadrilles are the classic Spanish flat shoes that traditionally would be worn by the peasants and date back to the 14th century. The design varied slightly from to region to region. Whilst living in Majorca I discover the “ibicencas”, which are the style synonymous with Ibiza and I got crazy about them. I search for them everywhere and after few weeks, I finally found an artisan that could make them for me! It took me a couple of months of visiting and calling him but finally, I got two pairs of bespoke “ibicencas” that I was so excited to wear. I have spiced up the outfit with a necklace that I have repurposed as a statement bracelet and a pair of funky sunglasses! The glasses are from a Spanish brand that gifts away a pair of reading glasses to a person in need every time you purchase a pair from them.
As a final tip, sometimes I cross the leather straps of my basket and wear it as a backpack. It is ideal for when you are carrying a lot of weight or you need your hands to be free. Do you like the look?
