We clicked immediately, Daniel was one of the first people I met upon arriving in the US, our conversation centred around our passion for footwear and Spanish craftsmanship! We talked deeply and authentically about his journey, inspiration and how he quit corporate America to launch a footwear brand with his childhood friend. Many trials and tribulations have been endured since they first launched and last Friday was the 3rd year anniversary of Cobbler Union, one of the most prestigious and unique men’s footwear brands in the south.
Cobbler Union is a very interesting brand with the vision of providing luxury footwear at an affordable price direct to the consumer. The direct to market model cuts out the middleman, meaning that as a manufacturer they sell direct to the customer and pass on the savings to the consumer via their beautiful store at Ponce City Market, Atlanta, or online. All their shoes are crafted in Spain (we are famous for our high-quality footwear and leather work) and offer exquisite finishing on classic and modern styles. They produce in small batches to avoiding holding excessive stock and to better understand the customers wants and desires. They also offer a ‘made to order service’ in which the client can collaborate in the design process to forge a unique pair of shoes. I admire how they continue to promote the craftsmanship of beautiful leather goods through education and their love of the product. By ensuring that their clientele understands the journey of the merchandise they are creating a cult-like following through word of mouth referrals.
Cobbler Union has inadvertently become more sustainable as a result of the direct supply chain and the small batch production model, they are aligning with the slow fashion and lifestyle values, where quality wins over quantity.
It was a pleasure to celebrate all that they have achieved over the past three years and I wish them every success as they continue to flourish and raise the consciousness of fine leather footwear throughout North America.
Ps. I’m wearing a pair of masculine inspired shoes to honour the occasion!
Hi Cristina,
this is my first comment here. But I just have to tell you, HOW MUCH I love your style and your posts. I´m already a big fan!
But now to this post: The products (and especially the idea!) behind Cobbler Union is brilliant … Maybe they can also start with shoes for girls? 😀
Best regards
