Art and fashion go hand in hand. Art has been a fashion inspiration in innumerable occasions and some of the most iconic fashion pieces in history are clear examples of this close relationship. Mondrian dress by Yves Saint Laurent
Few months ago, I visited the Fundació Miró in Mallorca and got dress for the occasion (it has taken me awhile to share the images, but I was waiting for the cold weather). The Miró’s work is worth the trip to Mallorca (also the beautiful landscape and the beaches), his paintings are inspiring, full of life and colour. But, I must confess that my favourite piece is the extraordinary tapestry that you can see in the images below. The craftsmanship behind this piece, in contrast to the colour and forms chosen by the artist makes this piece a unique mix of modernity and tradition, which I love! I included some close up images of the tapestry. So that you can admire its beautiful and complex work.
Regarding my outfit, I am wearing a vintage jumper which I feel very close to. It belonged to my mother and she used to wear while she was pregnant with me. I am not sure if that is the reason why I like it so much. The truth is that even though my sister keep asking me to through it away, but there is something about it that makes me feel very attached to it! I love its graphics and Miró’s work was the best scenario to portrait its beauty. I’ve combined it with pieces that you already know. Such as this red trouser that I keep wearing again and again, as you can see here! Also, I am wearing a pair of loafers that were a tribute to Miró’s work, which I feel they are the icing on the cake for this look.
