How Covid-19 would affect the way we consume? And how it will affect the way we interact with the habitat? Would the new normal make us more emphatic? The Covid-19 is the biggest challenge we are currently facing worldwide. Is affecting us, as a society, as much as us, as individuals. There are so many questions in the air… Today, I want to share my thoughts about how the coronavirus has changed us.

Circular economy is a very popular concept right now and a hot topic in the media. For the profanes, circular economy is a new economic system that replicates nature with its endless system. One species’ waste becomes others food and energy is provided by the sun. Once someone dies nutrients return to the soil and is a system that works!! It’s been doing it for millions of years. Instead, in our current system is linear economy, in which we produce – consume – dispose. Every time we do so, we consume resources that are limited and increase the amount of waste in our landfills.
I recently came back from the Explorer Day celebration in Portugal. It was an extraordinary experience. But before going there, let me tell you what Explorer is about…
We are about to say goodbye to 2018 and the best way to do it is by having an amazing party! There are many things we have to take care of during our everyday life. For that reason, our brain automated some of our actions. Is a way to safe our mental energy for more important or newer things. But on this automated state is very hard to question our actions. I am trying to avoid this irresponsible, and at the same time human behaviour and change small routines in my life.
Time passed and one of the few objects that remain is the jewelry. Every woman owned a piece that has belonged to her family for a few generations. For that reason, getting a new piece of jewelry should be a thoughtful decision. It is better to go for a timeless design, and if you can also add sustainability into the decision making process, even better!!
Art and fashion go hand in hand. Art has been a fashion inspiration in innumerable occasions and some of the most iconic fashion pieces in history are clear examples of this close relationship. As the Mondrian dress by Yves Saint Laurent; the Warhol jumpsuit by Versace or the Byzantine virgins in the Dolce & Gabbana FW 2014. You can see these examples in the images below.
Bringing awareness into the environmental issues is the first step towards resolving them. It is essential and art is the best tool for achieving the goal in a beautiful and meaningful way. This was probably Anna Panic’s thought when she decided to star the “Conscious” project.
Pleats are an intrinsic part of fashion and I find their story fascinating! Pleated fabrics go back as far as the ancient Egyptian civilization, were the Pharaohs and aristocracy used to wear them as a symbol of power and wealth. Pleating was done by hand and a mixed egg was placed over the linen fabric to preserve the pleat. But when the fabrics were washed the pleats will vanish and the process will start all over again, making the pleated garments a very luxurious product. Another great ancient civilization that made the pleated garments part of their identity were the Greeks. We all have in mind the gorgeous Greek caryatids wearing their beautiful pleated tunics or peplum.
